MRC Allied unit to put up 1.1-MW solar rooftop system

As published on Inquirer.net

MRC Allied Inc. is developing a solar rooftop system with a generation capacity of at least 1.1 megawatts through subsidiary Menlo Renewable Energy Corp. (MREN).

MRC said in a statement MREN, which is engaged in renewable energy development, would pursue the project for a mall in Mindanao.

The company signed last December a memorandum of agreement with the mall operator for the development, design, construction and installation of the solar photovoltaic rooftop system.

The project, costing about P67.4 million, is intended to be in service for 20 years.

In a related development, MRC said it had signed last November a similar agreement with Edward Marcs Philippines Inc. (Empi), for a 550-kilowatt, grid-linked rooftop project for two rice milling plants in Northern Luzon.

This pilot project for Empi is tagged at P34 million and set for a 20-year service.

“The signing of [the] MOA is a significant milestone for [MRC], and will kick off the pilot project of the company in its current solar PV project pipeline,” MRC said.

MRC’s goal is to develop at least 4 MW of solar PV projects within this pilot project’s area.
